A Calgary comedian can now add hockey-stick barber to his resum after successfully giving his father a trim while safely, he claims, complying with COVID-19 physical-distancing guidelines.

"This was my dad's idea. It was quite trusting, I think," Josh Groen told the Calgary Eyeopener.

Groen's parents, who both had the virus but have since recovered and no longer show symptoms, wanted to see their new grandchild.

So Groen thought he'd kill two birds with one stone.

"One hundred per cent, I cut his hair. Those are real clippers. There are no stunt doubles. My dad risked what is left of his hair," the comedian said.

He used electric clippers attached to a hockey stick.

And nowadays, you need video or it didn't happen. So Groen complied.

"You have to start from the bottom up. You have to go smoothly. You just have to follow the contours of the head," he said.

"You have to go delicatelybecause you are six feet away, so you don't have your eyes quite on the hairline. Go slow. Take your time. Make sure you do a good jobbecause you have to look good when you are in quarantine."
