Hundreds lose locks for Calgary cancer fundraiser

More than three times what they set out to raise. Thats what hundreds of Calgary firefighters and many others, including the CBC Do Crew, managed to raise at a cancer fundraiser Saturday.

More than three times what they set out to raise.

That's what hundreds of Calgary firefighters and many others, including the CBC Do Crew, managed to raise at a cancer fundraiser Saturday.

The goal was $40,000 but after all was said and done, $124,000 will go to the Canadian Cancer Society.

The event is hoping to break a world recordwith 329 firefighters losing their locks at the same timebut confirmation will take a little time.

CBC's Do Crew got in on the action withPaul Karchut going under the clippers for a lot off the top.

The event filled the Calgary Fire Department southeasttraining academy.

The previous record for most heads shaved consecutively is 267 in Ontario last May. It was also a cancer fundraiser.
