Hundreds mourn Alberta MP Jim Hillyer

A funeral service was held Friday in Raymond, Alta.,for Conservative MP Jim Hillyer.

The 41-year-old was found dead of a heart attack last week in his office near Parliament Hill.

The several hundred mourners included former prime minister Stephen Harper and interim Conservative leader Rona Ambrose.

Ambrose tweeted from the service that mourners were there to "pay tribute to Jim."

"We'll miss him," the post says.

The interim leader posted a tribute to Hillyer on Facebook earlier.

"He described the job of being his MP as the job he had wanted his whole life," the post reads.

"Before being elected, Jim was an entrepreneur. Like so many Westerners he was proud to make a livingin the natural resources sector. He also brought with him to Parliament an understanding and a greatsympathy for the concerns of regular, hardworking Canadians and it really showed. When you talked toJim it was like talking to a neighbour. It was clear that he loved his life, his wife, he loved his community,and he loved his job,"Ambrose wrote.
