Lethbridge police searching for person of interest in Irene Carter homicide

Lethbridge police are searching for a woman they believe may have information connected to their investigation into the death of Irene Carter.

Woman believed to have information connected to stabbing death in Lethbridge

Lethbridge police are searching for a woman they believe may have information connected to their investigation into the death of Irene Carter.

Carter, 78, was stabbed to death in her home in January.

Nowpolice in the southern Alberta city believe an Airdrie woman may know something about the case.

They're searching for "Terry-Lynn," or a "Terry" with the last initial of "L."

She is described as five feet fourinches, or five feet five inchestall, approximately 250lbs andheavyset with dirty blond hair with brown streaks. She is believed to bein her late 20s or early 30s with a tattoo on one arm.

"She's believed to have attended gambling anonymous groups in Calgary and may possibly have thispink coat in her possession," said Sgt. Ryan Stef with the Lethbridge Police Service.

Another witness in the investigation brought forward Terry-Lynn's name to police, but investigators haven't yet been able to find her.

Stefcalled Terry-Lynn a person of interest, not a suspect.

"She may have some information that may help us," he said.

Police first responded to Carter's home in the 300 block of Normandy Road Southshortly after 2 p.m. on Jan. 18 after family members who were unable to reach her on the phone went to the house and discovered her body.

Earlier this month, Carter's daughter visitedCalgary to give an emotional plea for tips to help solve her mom's murder,

The motive for Carter's death remains unclear.
