Joshua Mitchell, accused in gas-and-dash death, was on bail

The Calgary man accused of killing gas station attendant MaryamRashidi in a hitandrun was on bail fordangerousdriving at thetime.

Joshua Cody Mitchell, 20, was charged on Jan. 30, 2015, with dangerousdriving, possession of stolen propertyavehicle as well asdriving without a licence and driving without insurance.

A justice of the peace released Mitchell on $2,000 cash bail following hisJanuary arrest. As part of his release conditions he was not allowed to be ina private vehiclewithout its registered owner.

Other outstanding charges include failure to appear in court in February and fraud under $5,000.

Mitchell is facing several charges:

  • Criminal negligence causing death.
  • Dangerousdriving causing death.
  • Hit and run causing death.
  • Possession of stolen property over $5,000.
  • Theft in relation to the June 7incident that claimed Rashidi's life.

Mitchell made a brief court appearance over closed-circuittelevision on Thursday. He will appear in court again on Monday.
