K-Country trail closed due to grizzlies in the area

Alberta Parks has closed Rawson Lake Trail and basin, including Sarrail Ridge, in Kananaskis Country, citing multiple grizzly bears in the area.

Alberta Parks has closed a hiking trail inKananaskis Country, citing multiple grizzly bears in the area.

The closure affects Rawson Lake Trail and basin, including Sarrail Ridge, in Peter LougheedProvincial Park. The trail is accessed from Upper Kananaskis Lake.

The area is closed until further notice.

Alberta Parks says bears can be encountered in K-Country at any time.

To avoid running into a bear, the provincial agency recommends travelling with a group, making a lot of noise, being aware of your surroundings, carrying bear spray, and keeping your pet on a leash.
