The first-degree murder trial of Kristopher Guenther, who confessed to strangling his former fiance Lacey Jones McKnight, is one step closer to wrapping up.

Guenthertestified in his own defence over the past two days and admitted to strangling his former fiance JonesMcKnight in October 2012. He also admitted to driving around with her body in his car before trying to kill himself.

Now the judge must decide whether he is guilty of first-degree murder, second-degree murder or manslaughter.

If the judge believes the prosecution`s theory that JonesMcKnight was tied up with a bag over her head when she was killed he will be guilty of first-degree murder.

If he believes the defence theory that the rope and tape found on her body and in his car was used for sex before the killing he will be guilty of second-degree murder or manslaughter.

Throughout his testimony, Guenther remained emotionless as he described fighting with JonesMcKnight, putting her in a choke hold, and finally driving around with her body in his car.

The prosecution wrapped up its cross-examination of Guenther this morning and defence rested its case.

Final arguments are set forMonday.
