Kyle Ledesma guilty of murdering Dexter Bain in northeast pub shooting

A Calgary jury has found Kyle Ledesma guilty of second-degree murder in November 2010 shooting death of Dexter Bain.

A Calgary jury has found Kyle Ledesma guilty of second-degree murder in theshootingdeath of Dexter Bain in 2010.

Bain was shot in the early hours of Nov. 27at Our Place Pub and Grill in northeast Calgary.

According to his girlfriend at the time, Bain wasn't supposed to be there but had stopped by to help out the owners who were in the process of selling the pub.

Police believed at the time that it was a botched robbery, asBain had no connections to criminal activity.

The prosecutor saysLedesma's DNA was found on a gun that isbelieved to be the murder weapon.

The Crown also told the jury during the trial thatLedesma was caught in what is called a "Mr. Big" undercover operation where he confessed twice to police that he killedBain.

A second-degree murder conviction comes with an automatic life sentence withno chance of parole for at least 10 years.

There was no recommendations from the jury aboutparole eligibility.

A sentencing date hasnot yet been set.
