A second-degree murder conviction comes with an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for at least 10 years.

The jury declined the opportunity to make a recommendation on Ledesma's parole ineligibility.

The prosecution had proposed parole ineligibility of 18 to 19 years while defence wanted the minimum 10 years.

Ledesma confessed to his involvement following an undercover police operation.
