16-year-old boy drowns in Lake Newell
RCMP said the boy initially appeared to be in distress before going under water.

A 16-year-old boy is dead after drowning in the waters of Lake Newell in southern Alberta.
Emergency crews were called to Kinbrook Island Provincial Park around 3:44 p.m. on Aug. 29 for reports of a boy floating on the water, according to an RCMP news release.
He appeared to jumpoff of his flotation device and appeared to be in distress before going under water, RCMP said.
The family of the boy has been notified.
Police said no further information would be provided at this time.
