Police say a 31-year-old Langdon resident has been charged with second-degree murder

A man from Langdon, Alta., is facing a second-degree murder chargein connection with the death of his mother.

The charge comes weeks after RCMP responded toa 911 call on May 26 to a report of an assaultat a home in Langdon, a hamletlocated about 40 kilometres east of Calgary.

Upon arrival, a 56-year-old woman was found unresponsive at the scene anda31-year-old man was arrested. The woman was rushed to Calgary hospital but later died.

The RCMP identified the woman asAudra Demolitor.

On Wednesday, police announcedthey havechargedScott Demolitor, 31, with second-degree murder in relation to the death. The accused is the son of the deceased woman.

Demolitoris scheduled toappear in the Alberta Court of Justice on June 20 in Strathmore.
