Legacy Trail to reopen but grizzly bear still feeding nearby

A section of the Legacy Trail closed because of grizzly bear activity wasslated to bereopened Friday afternoon.

Visitors are being urged toexercise usual precautions, includingcarrying bear spray, travelling in groupsand making noise along the trails.

The trail was shut down from theCanmorevisitorcentre to the Banff park gate.

Cyclists were being rerouted onto the opposite side of the Trans-Canada Highway.

The closure came aftera grizzly bear was seen feeding next to the highway. Officials said the buffaloberry crop came in early this year, drawing in bears.

On Friday afternoon, awarning was issued forthe Canmore Nordic Centre and Grassi Lakes Day Use Area due to wildlife activity.
