Lisa Freihaut, accused of killing mother, to have preliminary hearing in new year
Irene Carter, 78, found dead in Lethbridge home with multiple stab wounds
A preliminary hearing will be held in the new year for a Calgary woman accused of killingher 78-year-old mother.
Lisa Freihaut, 51, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Irene Carter.
Police have said the senior was found in her south Lethbridge home in January, four days after she was allegedly killed.
An autopsy determined she died of multiple stab wounds.
Freihaut had made an emotional pleafor information in her mother's death a few monthslater.
The preliminary hearing will take place on Jan. 26 and 27.
Freihaut has elected to be tried by judge alone, should the hearing determine there is enough evidence to warrant a trial.
Freihaut is out on bail, but must adhere to several conditions that include 24-hour house arrest.
