Tsuut'ina mom accused of killing toddler back behind bars for Christmas

Livia Starlight, who is awaiting trial on a second-degree murder charge in her son's death, will spend Christmas behind bars after allegedly breaching her bail conditions.

A Calgary-areamother accused of murdering her toddlerwill spend Christmas behind bars after allegedly breaching her bail conditions.

Livia Starlight, from the Tsuut'inaFirst Nation southwest of Calgary,faces a charge ofsecond-degree murder.

Herson TraezlinDenzelStarlight, 2, died in a Calgary hospital on Sept. 25, 2014, after beingadmitted to hospital a week earlier with injuries.

As part of her bail conditions, Starlight was tobe under curfew from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and was not allowed to drink alcohol or consume drugs.

She was also ordered to live with her grandfather and could not be around children unless their parents or guardians werepresent.

However, she was accused ofviolating her bail conditions bydrinking and beingoutpast her curfew.

Starlight appeared over CCTV from the Calgary Remand Centre before provincial court Judge Harry Van Harten Tuesday morning and ordered back behind bars.

Her lawyer, AlainHepner,set a return date of Jan. 5 for the breach charges.

Starlight's trial is set to take place over two weeks in February.
