Man with amnesia identified after Lethbridge police ask for help

Lethbridge police say a man wearing cycling gear and covered in mud showed up at the Chinook Regional Hospital at 1:30 a.m. and couldn't remember who he was, but by Tuesday afternoon he had been identified.

Lethbridge police say a man wearing cycling gear and covered in mud showed up at the Chinook Regional Hospital at 1:30 a.m. and couldn't remember who he was, but by Tuesday afternoon he had been identified.

Police said he appeared to be in his 60s but didn`t know his name or have ID.

He told hospital staff he had fallen off his bike in the river valley.

"It is pretty rare," Staff Sgt. Dwayne Smith told CBC News.

"Usually they have something on them or someone has called in looking for them. Usually it's a dementia patient,and we are usually able to get them home pretty quick."

Police said the mandidn't match any current missing person reports.
