Calgary police have identified the man gunned down last weekend in a barber shop in Forest Lawn.

Khaled El-Ajami, 30, was a customer in the shop in the 5100 block of 20th Avenue S.E. when a man came in, engaged him in a short conversation, then pulled out a gun and shot him.

Investigators think it was a targeted attack linked to an ongoing dispute between gangs involved in the drug trade, said Staff Sgt. Doug Andrus.

"I think we're concerned that there may be more violence," he said."In this case there were over 60 people in the immediate area of the shooting."

It's believed the killer was driven away by someone in a silver SUV.

The shooteris a believed to an Arabic man in his 20s with a heavy build.

"Both the man and SUV remain outstanding," said Andrus.

The killing was Calgary's 29th homicide in 2015.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the incident to contact them at 403-266-1234or anonymously at Crime Stoppers.
