Maqsood Ahmed homicide: Lloyd Kollie charged in fatal stabbing

19-year-old Lloyd Kollie has been arrested and charged in connection with the killing of Calgary business owner Maqsood Ahmed last October.

More arrests expected in Westwinds Drive attack, say police

Police have made an arrest in connection with the killing of Calgary business ownerMaqsoodAhmed last October.

Lloyd Kollie, 19,has beencharged with second-degree murder and robbery.

He was taken into custody without incident Wednesday morning, according to police, whobelieve three others were involved, including one man who participated in the attack.

"I hope it's just the start and they do catch everybody who is involved," said his son QamarMaqsood.

Ahmed, 55, was attacked whilewalking with a coworker on Westwinds Drive around 9:30 p.m. MT on Oct. 8,2014, after closing his shop.

He was carrying a money bag, and was stabbed and robbed.He died in hospital shortly after.

It hasn't been easy without his father, butQamardecided to keep the family business goinga business his father built after coming to Canada from Pakistan.

"I'm very lucky that he was my father. I'm very proud of him," he said.

Staff Sgt. ColinChisholmsaysa bag believed to have carried money fromAhmed'sstore was found during thelengthyinvestigation.

"It was a planned robbery that went bad and led to the murder," saidChisholm.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected in connection with the homicide.

Kollie will next appear in court on June 19.
