Maqsood Ahmed homicide probe prompts search near railway tracks

Calgary police searched an area in the citys southeast Tuesday morning in relation to the robbery and murder of Maqsood Ahmed last year.

Calgary police searchedan area in the city's southeast Tuesday morning in relation to the robbery and murder of Maqsood Ahmed last year.

"During the search, items were recovered that are believed to be connected to the investigation," said Calgary police in a release.

"As the investigation is ongoing, no further information or detail will be released in relation to the items."

Ahmed, 55, was carrying cash and receipts after closing up his nearby business for the night when he was fatally stabbed by robbers in the 4700 block of Westwinds Drive N.E. on Oct. 8.

Ahmed owned the Calgary Produce Market in Castleridge. It also had a Western Union money transfer business inside.

The search area isnear the railway tracks located by Penbrooke Road and Penbrooke Close west of 68th Street southeast.

Last monthpolice said four people of interest in the case have been identified, but they are not co-operating with investigators.
