Despite being told the medical examiner's finding that Meika died of multiple blunt force traumas to her head and that her death could only be considered a homicide, Magoon tries to blame the child's injuries on her accident prone nature.

Magoon and Jordan were arrested about a year after Meika's death and had been the subjects of an undercover police investigation during which each made admissions, according to prosecutor Susan Pepper.

During her opening arguments, Pepper said Meika was tortured by Magoon and Jordan for four days leading up to her death.

The trial beganon Mondayand is scheduled for six weeks.
