A six-year-old girl was battered in the days leading to her death: burned, beaten, slapped and likely punched according to the medicalexaminer who testified Monday.

Meika Jordan died in Nov. 2011 of blunt force trauma to the head. Herfather and stepmother, Spencer Jordan and Marie Magoon are on trialfor first-degree murder.

Dr. ChrisMilroy identified five areas of "significant impact" to herhead, at least one of which caused her brain to swell. That injury, coupled with a kick or punch to her stomach that caused her pancreasand liver to tear and bleed, led to Meika's death.

Following the blow to her abdomen that crushed her organs, Meika wouldhave been in a significant amount of pain, according to Milroy.

Meika's suffering went far beyond her fatal injuries. Many otherwounds were identified that were less medically significant but speak to what she would have endured in the days leading to her death.

Bruised from head to toe

Milroy noted about 40 bruises plus numerous lacerations, abrasions andother injuries that covered the Meika's body, literally from her headto her toes.

The vast majority of the wounds, according to Milroy, were causedwithin three days leading up to her death.

Meika had bruises on her head, forehead, nose, ear, chin, lips andfingerprint-sized bruising on her cheeks.

Bruising and abrasions also covered her arms, chest, back, hip, legs, feet and toes.

Milroy also identified evidence she had been punched in the mouth aswell as fingernail marks in her face.

An "extensive burn" noted by Milroy was in his opinion not caused by acurling or straightening iron, as Magoon had told a Health Link nurse, three days before Meika's death.

Testimony continues Tuesday

Meika also had abrasions on her back and chest as if she'd been pushedinto carpet plus an adult-sized slap mark on her thigh.

Magoon and Jordan told first responders that Meika's head trauma wascaused by a fall down the stairs just minutes before paramedicsarrived at their home. Milroy said that was not consistent with thetimeline of her injuries nor their significance.

He said Meika's brain injury must have occurred between two-to-eighthoursbefore paramedics found her unconscious and not breathing.

Magoon and Jordan had custody of Meika in those days before her death.

The prosecution says after burning her hand with a lighter on aThursday, Magoon and Jordan worried they'd be in trouble with Meika'smother. Instead of returning her as they were supposed to the nextday, prosecutor Susan Pepper alleges the couple kept her, torturingher until she was rushed to hospitalon Sundaywhere she died onMonday Nov. 14, 2011.

Milroy's testimony continueson Tuesday.
