Marlborough Mall stabbing now deemed a homicide, say police

Calgary police say they are now investigating a homicide after a man attacked by a group of youths outside Marlborough Mall last week succumbed to his injuries.

Gabriel Okeynan, 45, died of stab wounds sustained in the attack, which occurred just before midnight last Friday.

A 16-year-old youth found nearby has already been charged withrobbery. Henow faces a charge of second-degreemurder.

Another youth is being interviewed, but no charges have been laid against him yet.

Police said the victim and the assailants did not know each otherand they do know whatmotivated the assault.
