Man faces second-degree murder charge after weekend shooting

Calgary police have charged a man with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Jesse Shaye Troy George on March 27.

Calgary police have charged a man with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Jesse Shaye Troy George on March 27.

The killing took place just before 10 p.m. near Memorial Drive and 52nd Street S.E.

Police said they were called for reports of shots fired and found a man in his 30s, injured and on the street,who died at the scene.

John Tabler, 41, of Calgary, walked into police headquarters on Monday and turned himself in, police said. He was later charged.

Investigators believe the victim and accused were known to each other and the shooting was the result of a personal dispute.

"This remains an active investigation," said Acting Staff Sgt. Lee Treit in a news release.

"We believe that there were a number of individuals present at the time of the shooting and we are still in the process of determining each person's involvement."

Anyone with information on the shooting, or who may have been driving in the area between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.with a dashcam,is asked to contact police at 403-266-1234.
