Raids in Medicine Hat result in city's largest meth bust

Police in Medicine Hat confiscated the largest quantity of methamphetamine in the citys history during two raids last week, officials say.

Police raids at residences in Medicine Hat on July 13 turned up 1.13 kilograms of methamphetamine and 156 grams of cocaine, as well as other drugs, weapons and cash. (ALERT)

Police in Medicine Hat confiscated the largest quantity of methamphetamine in the city's history during two raids last week, officials say.

A two-month operation led by ALERT's Medicine Hat organized crime team culminated on July 13 with search warrants being executed at two residences, police said in a news release Tuesday.

Four people were arrested, and more than $120,000 worth of drugs and cash were seized, including 1.13 kilograms of methamphetamine, 156 grams of cocaine and 207 illicit prescription drug pills, as well as a replica gun and more than $34,000 in cash.

Police also stopped a vehicle along the Trans-Canada Highway near Brooks and arrested a fifth person with the help of Brooks RCMP.

The following people face a total of 28 charges:

  • Rosalind Blade, 65, of Medicine Hat.
  • Bobby-Jo Blade, 38, of Medicine Hat.
  • Angie Blade, 25, of Medicine Hat.
  • Harley Simons, 44, from Medicine Hat.
  • Guled Shideh, 34, from Edmonton.

Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams (ALERT) were established by the provincial government. The teams are made up of police officers from Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Medicine Hat and the RCMP.
