Calgary firefighters battled a two-alarm fire in a northeast community that extensively damaged two houses displacing 15 people, fire officials said in a release Friday.

Firefighters were called to Del Ray Road in Monterey Park at about 1:30 p.m.

The smoke was so heavy and visible, firefighters called in a second alarm on their way to the location.
