Multiple crashes on slick southern Alberta highways

Emergency crews in southern Alberta were busy Monday dealing with multiple crashes on slick winter roads that closed some roadways.

Emergency crews in southern Alberta werebusy dealing with multiple crashes on slick winter roads thatclosed some highways.

In one incident, seven people were taken to hospital in stable, non-life threatening condition after a collision between aminivanand a pickup truck nearChain Lakes Provincial Park.

Two adults in their 40s, and threechildren under the age of 10 were in theminivan, while a man and a woman in their 70s occupied the pickup.

NearChestermere, one woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance with possible internal injuries after her SUV collided with a flatbed truck. The male passenger of the SUV and the driver of the flatbed were uninjured.

Because of ananother collision, theTrans-Canadahighway wasclosed between Field and Golden but has sincereopened. There wereno further details available.

An earlier collision also testedpatience onHighway 2 south of High River, with a crash affecting both directions of travel near 594 Avenue. There werweno details on that incident either, but the highway has sincereopened.

Motorists are advised to use caution on city roads and provincial highways.
