Neighbourhoods in northeast Calgary are getting some much-needed help from the city with clearing snow.

Some northeast communities, like Skyview Ranch and Saddleridge, were particularly hard hit by last week's blizzard and the snowfalls that followed.

Vehicles were buried under the snow and many roads were left impassable.

"I couldn't even go to work on Tuesday and now we're getting stuck every night and we have, luckily, great neighbours that are pushing people out," said Skyview Ranch resident Wes Mroczkowski.

While city plows are in the areatry to clear the snow away, the department saysit is a break fromthe city's typical seven-day snow clearing plan.

"We did actually, in this case, realize that this was a severe instance and we were actually working in this community in Day 3, which is early compared to what we typically would do," said city road maintenance manager Bill Biensch.

"So in certain... circumstances we do get into communities earlier than what the plan says."

City crews will be back in other residential communities this weekend.
