Natrivia website aims to help Albertans stay happy campers

Natrivia aims to help outdoor enthusiasts get a better picture of the place they're going to pitch their tent.

Website provides photos, maps and reviews of campgrounds around the province

A new websiteaims to help outdoor enthusiasts get a better picture of the place they're going to pitchtheir tent.

Natriviaprovides outdoor enthusiasts with details, photos and reviews of more than 400 campgrounds around the province.

The free website was created byCalgariansWade Jacques and Matt Elliottafter a coupledisappointing weekend in the woods.

"You look at a couple of pictures online, think it's OK. And you get there and it's just a field with little privacy," saidElliott.

The website also has an interactive map that canzoom into different campsites and see how they're rated by users.

While the Parks Canada and Alberta Parks websites do provide informationabout provincialcampgrounds, Jacques says they're mainly for booking reservations.

"There's really no way to find new campgrounds, unless you already know of the campground you're looking for. So that's what our site does," he said.

Similar to TripAdvisor,Natriviaruns on user-generated content real feedback from real people.

But willcampers will be willing to give up that information?

"Maybe you give up a little bit of your secret, and the community maybe helps you find somebody else's secret," said Jacques.

The pair are hopingto partner up with public and private campground in Alberta to make campsite booking available directly through Natrivia.
