Calgary police are revealing new details about a year-old unsolved homicide in the hopes of generating new tips.

Juan Carlos Dequina, 22, was found dead inside his Chevrolet Blazer, near the intersection of 53rd Street and 146th Avenue S.W.

Officers from the Tsuu T'ina Nation Police Service on a routine patrol found the body just before 4 a.m. on Dec. 14, 2008.

"Investigators have not received any tips from the public since shortly after the homicide and are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area, or has information about this case, to come forward," Calgary police said in a statement on Thursday.

Police have describedfor the first time the route they believe Dequina took that evening from the northwest to the southwest.

He left his girlfriend's house just before 1 a.m. He travelled west on Northmount Drive, turned left onto Charleswood Drive and merged on to Crowchild Trail. He took Glenmore Trail to 14th Street, travelled onto Anderson and turned into 146th Avenue S.W.

Police also released new photos of Dequina on Thursday and a map of the route he took that night.

Last year, police describedDequina as the eldest son from a good family, wholived at home. He was well thought of by his employer, and there is nothing to indicate his death had anything to do with gangs or drugs, police said.
