Calgary man charged after vehicle slams into southeast home

Calgary police say one man has been charged after a truck slammed into a southeast Calgary home on Friday.

On Saturday, a Calgary police spokesperson said a 35-year-old Calgary man faces five charges in relation to the incident, and that more may be pending.

Traffic reconstruction officers were still on scene at the Ogden home Saturday and the family was still displaced from their home due to structural issues, the spokesperson added.

CBC Newspreviously reported that six people including two young children escaped injury early Friday morning when a pickup truck slammed through the exterior of a southeast home and crashed into the basement.

One man, believed to be the driver of the vehicle, was taken to hospital with serious injuries. His condition was updated Friday afternoon to stable.

Police said Saturday that the vehicle, which they believe was stolen, had B.C. plates.

It took several hours for crews, including those from the Calgary Fire Department, to remove the vehicle from the basement of the home.
