Man killed in 2-vehicle collision near Okotoks

A man is dead and another is in hospital after a two-vehicle collision north of Okotoks, Alta., early Saturday morning.

Shortly after 1 a.m., RCMP and EMS responded to the crash on Highway 2A between 332 Avenue and 338 Avenue.

RCMP say a southbound black Mercedes Benz struck a yellow Toyota FJ Cruiser, causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The driver of the Toyota was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the Mercedes, a man in his 40s, was transported to hospital with injuries that are not considered life threatening.

No charges have been laid and the investigation is ongoing.

RCMP say alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the collision.
