2nd-degree murder charges laid in Panorama Hills double killing

Anandaloj Srianandan, a 27-year-old Calgary man, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of a father and son last month.

A 27-year-old Calgary man has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of a father and son in June.

Anandaloj Srianandanis accused of killing Chandrababu Thambu, 56, and his 25-year-old son,Preijanthan Chandrababu, both of Calgary.

On June 10 at about 5:15 a.m., Calgary emergency crews received a call about four people in medical distress ata home on Panamount Common N.W. in Panorama Hills.

Police believe there was an altercation inside the home, which escalated into a violent assault. The father and son were found dead inside.

Srianandanis not a member of their family, but the two men knew him, Calgary Police Service said in a release issued Thursday morning.

Srianandanspent some time in hospital with critical injuries. Police previously said thesuspect would be charged when he was "medically fit."

He is scheduledto appear in Calgary Provincial Court onMonday on the second-degree murder charges.
