Police search for driver who struck cyclist in northeast Calgary

Police are looking for a driver who struck a cyclist on Tuesday near Saddletowne in northeast Calgary and didnt stay at the scene of the collision.

Police are looking for a driver who struck a cyclist on Tuesday in northeast Calgary and didn't stay at the scene of the collision.

At about 2:15 p.m., a white SUV was heading east on 80th Avenue N.E. and merged onto southbound Saddletowne Circlewhen it hit a man on a bicycle who was crossing 80th Avenue near theSaddletowne Ctrain station, police said in a release.

The driver of the SUV didn't stop and continued heading south on Saddletowne Circle.

The 64-year-oldcyclist was taken to hospital, where his condition has since been upgraded to non-life threatening condition.

Investigators believe the driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the cyclist.

Police want to speak with anyone who may have witnessed the collision. Anyone with information is asked to call the non-emergency number at 403-266-1234 or contact Crime Stoppers.
