Woman seriously injured in collision with vehicle near 12th Avenue and 5th Street S.W.

Calgary police closed a section of 12th Avenue near Fifth Street S.W. early Friday morning after a driver hit a pedestrian.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. and the driver remained at the scene, according to police.

Paramedics said the injured pedestrian was a woman. She was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

Police said asection of 12th Avenue near the Sheldon ChumirHealth Centre will remain closed while they investigate the collision.
