'Peter Moosebridge' visits Alberta home to watch CBC

A Bragg Creek man says a moose visited his rural home just about every night this winter to watch the CBC TV news through his window.

CBC News has learned thatPeter Moosebridge has left his big city life inZootopiaandrelocated to southern Alberta.

Thecartoonanchor withantlers,inspired byCBC'sown chief correspondentPeterMansbridge, was lastspotted on the front porch of a ruralhouse,peeringthrough thewindow into the TV room.

The homeowner, PierreBolduc, saidMoosebridgeappeared to be watching the evening news on CBC TV.

"It was fantastic to observe the moose as the news reported the water safety concern in the U.S.A. with the lead poisoning," joked Bolduc.

BetweenDecember andMarch,Bolduc said hecapturedthe moose on video several times, mostly during theCBC Calgary News at 6.

The animal did drop by once for The National.

"However it was WendyMesleywho hosted, not PeterMansbridge."

Though the moose is female, Bolducstill calls herPeterMoosebridge.

Over the winter, Bolduc said she visited him"just about every night,"butadmits sheprobably wasn't theretocatch upon current affairs.

"Seriously speaking, it's because I put out abaleof hay in order to attract her."

Bolduc said he was a "big moose hunter" until he retired in Bragg Creek, a hamlet located about 30 kilometres west of Calgary.

"I nowhave completely gone into trying to preserve wildlife."

That includesreintroducing beavers to the pond on hisacreage and building nests for predatory birds in hiscommunity.
