Police investigate suspicious death after incident in northeast Calgary

The Calgary Police Service says homicide investigators are looking into a suspicious death of one woman, according to a news release.

The Calgary Police Service says homicide investigators are looking into a suspicious death of one woman, according to a news releaseissued early Sunday morning.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, police were called to the Foothills Medical Centre after a man and woman reportedly arrived at the hospital suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds,reads the release.

Police say that, upon arrival, one woman was declared deceased and one man remains in serious condition.

According to the news release, police believe the shooting took place while the victims were driving westbound on the 32nd Avenue N.E. overpass at Deerfoot Trail, near the Vista Heights area.

Police are asking for anyone with information about the incident, or CCTV or dashcam footage of the shooting, to contact them at 403-266-1234.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is scheduled to perform an autopsy Monday.
