The province says portable classrooms are now in place for all of the 900 students affected by this summer's floods.

Damage caused by the flood initially meant studentsin High River had to attend classes in banquet rooms and gymnasiums, but 42 modular classrooms opened in that town today along with 12 in Calgary.

Some High Riverparentshad voiced concerns about the lengthy wait for classrooms fortheir children.

InfrastructureMInisterWayneDrysdalesays it wasn't an easy task.

"It sounds like a long time, but four months to build, move, set up, install and finish 54 classrooms I think ispretty impressive," he said.

Three schools in High River remain closed as well asElbow Park School in Calgary.

The Calgary Board ofEducation continues to work with parents on an occupancy plan for those students.
