Rachel Notley government features 3 Calgary MLAs in slimmed-down cabinet

RachelNotleyannounced her slimmed-down cabinet shortly after being sworn-in as Alberta's17thpremier on Sunday.

Itis the smallestcabinetin Alberta since Social Credit ruled the province decades ago, with ministerstaking over multiple portfolios.

There are threeCalgariansinher 12-person cabinet.

  • Former citycouncillorJoeCeci, who represents Calgary-Fort, will take over as president of the treasury board and minister of financetwo powerful positions placing him in charge of budgets and spending.
  • Kathleen Ganley, a labour and employment lawyer who grew up in Edmonton but lives and works in Calgary and represents Calgary-Buffalo, is the new minister of aboriginal affairs, minister of justice and Solicitor General of Alberta.
  • Finally social worker and lawyerIrfan Sabir, representing Calgary-McCall, is the new minister of human services, which oversees social services in the province.
