Real Ski Report: A little rain may fall as resorts start season wrap up

If you're planning a trip to the mountains this weekend hoping to find some deep powder, you're likely going to be disappointed.

Not much snow has fallen in the mountains this week, with the exception of a small snowstorm at Castle Mountain, which has seen 58 centimetres in the last seven days.

The best conditions will be found higher up as lower slopes get slushy thanks to spring weather.

It's also important not to rush out first thingin the morning because that's when snow is going to be at its firmest particularly slopes that get hit hard by the sun throughout the day. At this time of year, it's best to give the hills a little time to soften up before heading out.

Bit of rain, maybe

The forecast this weekend calls for a bit of rain and possibly snow at many of the mountain resorts, but not much precipitation is expected.

Lake Louise, Kicking Horse, Castle Mountain and Panorama could seea little bitof the wet stuff.

The one exception to the rainy forecastis Sunshine Village where the extra elevation will keep it snowing throughout.

Last chance of the season

It's getting to be that time of year when the ski season starts to wrap up at many resorts.

Castle Mountain, COP and Kimberley and ending their seasons this Sunday.

Easter weekend will be the end of the season for Kicking Horse, Fernie, Panorama and Revelstoke.

Don't stowyour equipment awayjust yet, however, as there are still a few weekends left to hit Sunshine and Lake Louise, which remain open into May.
