Red Deer man detained by citizens, handed over to police after truck strikes home

RCMP say they have an 18-year-old man in custody who was detained by witnesses after crashing a stolen truck into a home in Red Deer.

Police say numerous charges pending against 18-year-old who tried to flee but was caught by citizens

RCMP say they have an 18-year-old man in custody who was detained by witnesses after crashing a stolen truck into a home in Red Deer.

Police said officers responded to the home onCornettDriveat 12:30 p.m. Wednesday and arrested the man, who had attempted to flee on foot after striking two parked vehicles and then the house.

The suspect was being held by citizens in the area, who handed him over to police.

The burgundy Ford truck had been reported stolen in Red Deer on June 18.

Police said numerous criminal chargesare pending.
