Residents invited to ring-road meetings

The province is holding two open houses this week for residents to learn about plans for the west and south sections of the Calgary ring road.

The west section includes the ring road between Glenmore Trail (Highway 8) and 16th Avenue North (Highway 1). That open house will be held Tuesday, 4-8 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church (7102-14th Ave. S.W.).

People interested in the south section from Deerfoot Trail to west of 85th Street S.W. can attend a session Wednesday evening, 4-8 p.m., at the Southview Alliance Church (1436 James McKevitt Rd. S.W.).

The open houses are part of the planning studies that examine potential routes, land requirements and potential environmental and social effects, the province said in a news release Monday. The studies need to be finished before design and construction can proceed.

Representatives from Alberta Transportation and a consulting group will be present at both sessions to answer questions.
