CBC Calgary's Rob Brown takes best TV host at Rosies

And the winner in the category of Best Television Host at the 2016 Alberta Film and Television Awards is CBC Calgarys Rob Brown.

And the winner in the category of Best Television Host at the 2016 Alberta Film and Television Awards is CBC Calgary's Rob Brown.

Brown, who anchors the CBC Calgary News at 6, won in part for coverage of the Alberta provincial election last May.

"As the guy in front of the camera it's always a privilege to represent the hard work, talent and dedication of those who work behind the lens," Brown said.

"The 2015 election made for an historic night in Alberta and I'm very proud of the fact that everyone at CBC Calgary and CBC Edmonton is being recognized for our part in telling that story."

Managing editor Helen Henderson said Brown's election coverage demanded a variety of skills.

"To be a great election night host you need to be smart, agile and in control," Henderson said.

"Rob Brown was all threein spades!"

Brown faced stiff competition in the awards, also called the Rosies.

Corey Loranger of Joe Media Group, Michael Higgins with Alberta Primetime, Phoenix Phillips of Shaw TV Calgary, Rob Williams of CTV Morning Live and Shawna Randolph also with Alberta Primetime were also nominated.

More than 50 awards were handed out at the 42nd annual event, hosted by Jebb Fink. It washeld at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary on Saturday.
