Human remains discovered at grass fire in Rocky View County

Human remains were discovered while fire crews extinguished a grass fire in Rocky View County on Wednesday. Police say they are treating the death as a homicide.

The Tsuut'ina Nation Fire Department discovered human remains while extinguishing a grass fire in Rocky View County on Wednesday, according to a news release from Alberta RCMP.

At around 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday, fire crews responded to a grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 when the remains were found.

Police said they are treating the case as a homicide following an autopsy Thursday at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary. No details of the autopsy were released.

The Alberta RCMP major crimes unit is investigating.
