Saddle Ridge stabbing suspect charged after surrendering to Calgary police

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of his wife after she was rushed to hospital with severe stab wounds from a home in Saddle Ridge earlier this week.

A man has been charged with the attempted murder of his wifeafter she was rushed to hospital with stab wounds from a home in Saddle Ridge earlier this week.

"The woman's 39-year-old husband has been charged with attempted murder,"Calgary Police said in a statementhours after he turned himself into police.

Police are not naming him publicly to protect the identity of the victim.He is due to appear in court onMonday.

Police had been searching for the mansince Tuesday morningafter officers responded to a homein the 200 block ofSaddlemeadGreen N.E. and found a womansuffering from multiple stab wounds.

The victimwas rushed to hospital in critical condition andwas later upgraded to serious condition.

A young boy who fled the home called 911 and a neighboursaid it appearedat least one other child, a toddler,witnessed the attack.

Police noted it wasn't the first time they had responded to the home on adomestic complaint.

The man was also wanted in other jurisdictions for other violent crimes, CBC News has learned.
