Police release images of vehicles that may have been used to move body of missing Chestermere man

Police asked for the public's help as theyreleased photos and details of two vehicles that mighthave beenused to move the body of a missing Chestermere man, a day after they charged a Calgary man with murder.

Shane Eric James Smith,20, was reported missing by his family on June 7,having been last seen in the southeast Calgary community of McKenzie Towne a day earlier.

Police announced on Tuesday that Charles Abercrombie, 24, of Calgary was charged with second-degree murder in the case.

Police believe that Smith was killed at a residence in southeast Calgarylate on June 6. His remains have not been found.

Police are looking forinformation in relation to two vehicles seen between midnight on Saturday, June 6, to Tuesday, June 9, alleging they may have been used to move Smith after he was killed.

The vehicles are:

• A burgundy Mercedes Benz ML55 featuring aftermarket chrome rims with Alberta licenceplate SLPRSLD.
• A white 2010 Crown Victoriawith aftermarket black rims and a black push-bar on the front with Alberta licenceplate CFM4615.

Investigators want tospeak with anyone who has information about thevehicles, both of which have been located.

Abercrombie has been charged with:

• 1 count of 2nd-degree murder.
• 1 count of indignity to a human body.
• 1 count of breaching a court order and breach of a firearm prohibition order.

Police said last week thatSmith's vehicle, a gold 2002 Nissan Maxima, was parked near the Deerfoot Trail bridgeover the Bow River at the southern city limits, sometime between 11 p.m. on June 6 and the morning of June 9.

Investigators are also looking to speak with anyone who drove over the Bow River bridge on Deerfoot Trail S.E. between midnight onJune 6, and 9 a.m. on June 7, and have dashcam footage.
