Sheep shooting from roadside near High River under investigation

Police in High River are investigating after three sheep were found dead with gunshot wounds to their necks on the weekend.

Police in High River are investigating after three sheep were found dead with gunshot wounds to their necks on the weekend.

RCMP were called on Monday after theowner found three of his lambs shotwith what is believed to be a small-calibre rifle.

The suspect likely shot the animals from the side of the road around Range Road 172, south of Cayley, RCMP say.

Last fall, an Alberta Fish and Wildlife official said such drive-by livestock shootings were not uncommon.

In October, a white-tailed deer was shot outside a Bragg Creek home by someone driving a BMW. Just hours earlier, two sheep on a farmer's field were shot from a road west of High River.
