Victim of Sandstone double homicide had 2 gun-related charges before the courts

A man has been chargedin connection to a shootingin the northwest Calgary community of Sandstoneon the weekendwhen two people were killed and a youth was sent to hospital.

Police have laid charges andidentified the victims of a fatal shootingin the northwest Calgary community of Sandstoneon the weekend as investigators continue to seek two others connected to the killings.

Abas Ahmed Ibrahim, 27, and Mohamed Khalid Shaikh, 19, were killed while a youth remains in hospital.

Dennis Wong, 20, is charged with two counts of accessory after the fact to murder, and one count of being party to the offence of attempted murder, the Calgary Police Service said in a release Monday.

Ibrahim hada lengthy history with police.

Gang rape charges withdrawn

Ibrahimhadfour sets of charges before the courts, including two charges of robbery with a firearm. He was recently granted bail.

In October, he wasto go on trial on one of robbery charges. Ibrahimwasalso facing criminal charges in Edmonton.

In 2015,Ibrahimwas accused of participating in thegang rape of a 14-year-old girl, although the charges of sexual assault, sexual interference with a child under 16 and invitation to sexual touching were eventually withdrawn mid-trial.

Wong was charged after police released images on Saturday of three men and a vehicle a blackInfiniti two-door coupe, with a white sticker across the top of the rear window believed to be involved in the killings.

Police are still hoping to identify two others in the photos.

On Friday around 8:40 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of Sandarac Place N.W.after reports of shots fired.

Officersfound a 27-year-old man and a 19-year-old mandead inside a vehicle.

A youthhad also been shot and was taken to hospital. Police say he isstill in hospital but is now in stable condition.

Police said they believe the shooting was targeted.

Wong will make his first court appearance on Thursday.
