Panorama Hills shooting victim ID'd as Louie Angelo Mojica

A man who was fatally shot in the northwest Calgary neighbourhood of Panorama Hills early Friday morning has been identified as 27-year-old Louie Angelo Mojica, police say.

Calgary police responded to a call of shots fired in the 200 block of Panamount Way N.W. shortly after midnight.

The victim was found in the driver's seat of a white Dodge Charger, police say.Emergency crews tried to revive him but he died at the scene.

Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots and seeing two vehicles possibly a dark-colouredDodge Caravanand a dark-coloured Mazda 3 sedan driving away.

Police believe there may be multiple suspects.

Targeted attack, say police

Insp.Don Coleman says Mojicalives in Panorama, but not outside the home where he died.

Police believe the shooting was a targetedattack and thatMojica, who is known to police, had arranged to meet people at the location where he was shot.

"We're exploring any historical or current connections to any criminal networks, or anything like that, but at this point we're not sure what the motivation for the incident would be," he said.

Mojica has been charged in the past with possession of a weapon, obstructing a peace officer and mischief damage under $5,000.

The car he was drivingbelongs to his girlfriend, who is now co-operating with the investigation, said Insp. Don Coleman.

'It just doesn't feel as safe'

Police don't believe its connected to other recent crimes in the neighbourhood.

The incident happened roughly a block from the housewhereCalgary mother Sarah Baillie was found killed last month. Her five-year-old daughter was later found killed ona rural property east ofChestermere.

Area resident Paige Walker said the spate of violent crime in Panorama Hills has her feelingdifferently about the neighbourhood.

"It just doesn't feel as safe as it used to feel," she said.
