Snowfall warning lifted for Calgary, southern Alberta

A heavy snowfall warning issued for Calgary and parts of southern Alberta earlier on Monday has been lifted by Environment Canada.

The highest snowfall amounts were expected along the Highway 1 corridor and south, with reduced visibility in snow and blowing snow may make travel difficult,the agency said.

Calgary police reported that there were 90 collisions between midnight and 11:30 a.m., including two involving injuries and 11 hit-and-run incidents.

"Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow," wrote Environment Canada in a statement.
