Speed considered a factor in Corvette rollover that killed driver, police say

Police are looking to speak with anyone who witnessed a single-vehicle crash on Thursday afternoon on a Stoney Trail N.E. exit ramp that left one man dead.

Police are looking to speak with anyone whowitnessed a sports car crash Thursday afternoon on a Stoney Trail N.E. exit ramp that left one man dead.

According to police, the incident took place around 3:40 p.m., when a black 2015 Chevrolet Corvette with a driver and a passenger was travelling on northbound Stoney Trail at high speeds.

The vehicle drove onto the exit ramp from Stoney Trail to McKnight Boulevard N.E., travelling toward the ramp for eastbound McKnight Boulevard.

The driver, a 24-year-old man, lost control of the sports car. It went off the road andinto the green space between the ramps and rolled over. The driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.

The passenger, a 30-year-old man, suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He remained in the vehicle and was takento hospital.
