A house in Springbank Hill was sprayed with bullets early Wednesday morning in an apparent case of mistaken identity.

"We don't believe that the residents of this dwelling were the intended targets at all," said Insp. Don Coleman with the major crimes unit.

"That leaves us still in the infancy stages of the investigation."

Andrew Li and his wife were woken up when their house on Springbank Mews S.W.was hit with gunfire at 5:45 a.m.

"It's definitely very unnerving and upsetting that this happened in our area," Li said.

No one was injured and no bullets entered the house. A second-floor window was shattered and the front door is riddled with shot marks.

"Luckily the police were here very quickly, so that made us feel a lot safer," he added.

Police are canvassing residents in the hope that someone on their way to work saw the culprits.

So far the police guns and gangs unit does not have any witnesses and investigators have not identified any suspects, he added.

Neither the home nor the residents were previously known to police.

A stolen Dodge minivan was abandoned nearby, but Coleman said it's unclear if there is a link to the shooting.
